William was born about 1822. He married Anne Kenrick (HM184) in 1847 at St Philip's Church in Salford. William and Anne had at least two sons and five daughters:
William was an architect and surveyor who formed a partnership in about 1846 with Henry Travis to form Travis and Mangnall which was based at 3 Norfolk Street in Manchester in 1848 - 1855 (Slater's Directorys 1848 & 1855).
The 1861 Census shows William, Anne, and their seven children living at Clark's Hill in Prestwich with William's sister Fanny and a nurse, Emma Ashworth. I assume that Emma was looking after 3 month old Blanche.
William died on the 29th May 1868 aged 46 at Lord Street in Southport in the presence of his son William (FM292). He died of "Phthisis 2 years, Pneumothorae 5 days, Pleuritis". Phthisis is Greek for consumption. Pleuritis is "an inflammation of the pleura, usually occurring because of complications of a disease such as pneumonia, and accompanied by accumulation of fluid in the pleural cavity, chills, fever, and painful breathing and coughing" (from The Free Dictionary)
