Mary Mangnall

Mary was born on the 25 May 1816, her parents were William (JM109) and Ann Mangnall. She was baptised at St Ann's in Manchester. Our first evidence of Mary is in the 1841 Census where she is shown to be living with her family at St Stephen's Street in Salford aged 25. Unfortunately the relevant 1851 Census documents were damaged and I have not yet been able to trace the family at that time.

Mary's father died in 1843 and her mother died in 1853. The 1861 Census shows that Mary is the head of the household at 4 Northern Terrace in Broughton and that she has her siblings Jane (HM091), Lucy (GM144) and Alfred (GM106) living with her as well as her niece Helen (FM178). We think that Helen was the daughter of her brother Fenton Mangnall (GM142) and his first wife Martha.

Mary was still the head of the household at 4 Northern Terrace at the time of the 1871 Census. She now had her younger sisters Fanny (HM090), Jane (HM091) and Lucy (GM144) living with her along with her niece Helen (FM178). The family still had the same servant, Clare McCallum.

Mary died on 24 November 1874 aged 59 (RoD Salford 1874 Q4 8d 33 age 59).
